Preveza is e picturesque rich city, built in the entrance of Amvrakiko Gulf. It is the capital of the prefecture of Preveza. A charming city of the Ionian sea surrounded by the impressive olive trees and the sea. Some of the characteristics which compound the picture of the city is its island colours, ancient houses and mansions of the 19th century with its special architecture, its narrow streets of the Old Town (incuding the Seitan Bazaar), the historical monuments, its cutural inheritence as well as the mild Mediterranean climate.
Monuments worth seeing in Preveza are imressive fort of Saint Andreas, which is in the centre of the town close to the port, the castle of Saint George Pantokratora which controlos the entrance of the Amvrakiko Gulf, the defender of Vrisoula, which was constructed by Ali Passa of Ioannina in 1807 and outstanding Clock Tower built in 1752.
The area surrounding Preveza consists of many tourist attractions, especially in the summer months, as the beaches are very clean with the view of the endless blue of Ionian sea, including surfing, sailing, ski sports, parachuting, renting boats and fishing. Preveza is well - known for its nightlife, as there are a large number of bars, cafe' s, and nightclubs which will suits all tastes. For those who love good food and the Mediterranean cuisine there are many traditonal fish taverns which offer fresh fish and local seafood snacks.
